Grand Prix Series 2004

Presented by Ohana Road Runners

The Grand Prix Series 2004 has been completed. The results are available here.

Three linked events offering cash prizes. All are 1 mile and 5 kilometer. All are designed to please both walkers and runners. All are certified, scenic and fun.

Official Rules for Cash Prizes

  1. Being charitable events and having a need to stay in the black, any event of this series of three that has less than 300 paid finishers will not have a pot, nor will Cash Prizes be awarded. To qualify for Cash Prizes the event (1 Mile & 5K combined) must have at least 300 paid finishers. All of these events are expected to qualify.
  2. All finishers must be officially entered to qualify for the event and Ohana Grand Prix Series cash prizes.
  3. Points Male and Female: Overall winner gets counted as 5 points and does not get additional points for their age category. Participants that place in both the 1 Mile and 5K will get points for each distance. Maximum point total is 30 points; a person would have to win outright the 1 Mile and the 5K at all three events to receive 30 points.
  4. $2 for each paid finisher goes into a pot; half the pot will be split between the male and female winners of the 1 Mile and 5K of each event when there are over 300 finishers in the event.
Example of minimum cash prize: 250 finishers in the 5K and 50 finishers in the 1 Mile = 300 finishers. 300 x $2 = $600, divided by 2 = $300 (split pot). The 50 finishers in the 1 Mile mean that there would be $50 (and $50 forwarded to the series pot) worth of prize money and the Male & Female winners get $25 each and 5 points toward the Ohana Grand Prix Series. The 250 finishers in the 5K mean that there would be $250 in the 5K and the Male & Female winners get $125 each and 5 points toward the Ohana Grand Prix Series. The other half is carried over until after the Christmas Classic, December 05, 2004 at which time it will be added to the amount from the other qualifying events. The Male and Female that earn the most points from their participation in all these events split the combined pot (total of the qualifying halves).
  5. Point totals will be displayed with the results when they are posted on the web at http://www.PeopleEvents.org/. Checks will be mailed after the appropriate tax reporting information is obtained and notices will be e-mailed to the Internet maillist.
  6. Winners of cash prizes are required to provide all information required for tax reporting purposes. Refusal to comply will cause the participant to forfeit their winnings. Ohana will adhere to the advice of Ohana’s own tax advisors.
  7. Raw Results at the event are subject to verification, because some registration and/or results information may prove to be erroneous. In any and all disputes, the decision of the Ohana Road Runners Club is final.
